Homeless

April 21, 2011

well – I think I’m officially homeless.

I am back in Cleveland from the Coin World freelance job in Statesville, N.C., but my house rent is paying my mortgage so I can’t go home. (That Statesville job was to last until April 15, which would’ve put me there for last weekend’s tornadoes. I guess there is a God. I came home in late March since the trial ended early.)

So: back to living out of a suitcase.

I moved, in my packed car, to Ghost Ranch in March 2010. Six weeks later, I packed up and moved to a different place on the ranch from Casa del Sol. two weeks lataer, I moved to a DIFFERENT house. Packing again.

In October, I packed and moved to Flagstaff, living in temporary housing. ten weeks pager I packed up and moved to an apartment, buying used couch and bed at a thrift store.

Ten weeks after that, I packed up again and drove to North Carolina for freelance job, and unpacked, in part, and moved into a Microtel. Two weeks after that, the trial I was covering abruptly ended, and I packed up again and headed back to Ohio via Great Smoky Mountain National Park, my aunt in Glasgow, Ky., and my daughter in Indianapolis and cousin in Middletown, Ohio.

I moved into a friend’s vacant home in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. three weeks later, she came home, so I moved in with my mother in a Cleveland retirement home. that’s temporary. Sunday I will go stay with a niece in Shaker Heights, then a week with my daughter in Indianapolis, then….?

Sign up! You might make it into the book I ought to write about this! Better yet, find me a cool job so I can unpack my car again – at least for a little while.
